T. Mann, “Death in Venice”. Makes an ideal gift.

Giotto. The Scrovegni ChapelGiotto. The Scrovegni Chapel€10,50

Giotto (1267-1337) transformed the art of painting from the Greek into the Latin tradition and gave it a modern reading. He probably carried out his works in the Scrovegni Chapel (or Arena Chapel since it stands within the area taken up by the Roman amphitheatre) in the years around 1305. The frescoes in the Scrovegni Chapel are perhaps the most important cycle of works left to us by Giotto. 80 colour illustrations
(shown after the recent restauration) together with accompanying text, aid the visitor to fully perceive the meaning of each work.
